Your health is personal, and your treatment should be too.
Meet the person behind The Herb & Needle.
Hi, I’m dr. Emma rose
owner of The Herb & Needle
I grew up in Lacombe and at one point I was introduced to Traditional Chinese Medicine to help with a chronic condition I was dealing with. Amazed with the results I knew this was something I wanted to explore.
I have 9 years of education learning from and working with some of the top masters that Traditional Chinese Medicine has to offer, including those in Chengdu, China. I am just thrilled to be back home in Lacombe and bring Traditional Chinese Medicine to this community I love so much.
My mission is simple,
I want to help people by reintroducing the ancient methods of Chinese Medicine that naturally maintain our health and heal our bodies.
WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Before coming to your acupuncture appointment please remember to hydrate, eat and fuel your body. While it can be normal to feel fatigued or drowsy after receiving acupuncture, eating can help with this greatly.
When you arrive for your first appointment you will have a consultation with Dr Emma Rose where you will discuss your health history, what you would like to gain from treatment, and what Dr Emma Rose believes is the best treatment plan for you at this time.
Needles can be quite concerning for some. Please know the needles used in acupuncture are very thin and most people hardly feel them going in. Although, a strong sensation when needling is very common. We refer to this feeling as ‘De Qi’. When the needle is inserted the patient can feel a dull ache like you are pressing on a bruise, this is a normal and beneficial sensation to have as this means the needle has been activated and the qi of the body has rushed to the needle site.
Think of acupuncture like the gym, the more you go the better you feel and more results you will see. Consistency is key!
I am extremely passionate about the history Chinese Medicine has.
This is one of the oldest methods of healing in the world.
Back in the day, they did not use terminology such as tinnitus, headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, insomnia or other issues people may deal with. They would say you have a kidney yin deficiency, or too much heart heat disturbing the mind and liver qi stagnation.
These terms may seem foreign to you, but these differentiations are what I base my entire treatment plans around. I treat based on individual constitution and needs. I do not specifically treat every symptom, I take a complex history and from there give all my patients a unique TCM diagnosis.
From there I pick points that will help harmonize this constitution and specific points that are geared towards your current symptoms.
