Modalities

Modalities are offered to support your traditional acupuncture treatment - all modalities (except for herbal prescriptions) are added to your treatment to fit your individual needs at no added cost. This is to be determined by Dr. Emma Rose

Traditional Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a system of medicine that falls under the realm of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The needle has advanced over thousands of years starting with stones and animal horns to stimulate the acupuncture points to now thin sterile metal needles that are inserted into the body.

The acupuncture points are found along meridians in the body which are governed by each organ. These meridians are found mapping the entire human body. Each organ has a unique function according to Chinese medicine that greatly differs from the classic functions viewed by western medicine. When these organs get out of alignment this is when diseases start to occur.

By inserting acupuncture needles along the meridians, you are able to adjust and balance the organs function to help solve these issues. The organs can get out of alignment due to various reasons such as emotions and stress, poor diet and the environment you live in.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is an ancient therapy used in Chinese Medicine that involves burning a herb called Ai Ye (mugwort) to activate specific acupuncture points on the body. These herbs are absorbed by the body to promote healing and ease pain. Moxibustion is great for arthritic pain, digestion, menstrual health, coldness in the body and more. Moxibustion can be used in many different forms such as topical, burning, heat packs, etc.

Tui Na

Tui Na is an ancient form of soft tissue work. Various techniques are used including, kneading, pressing, rolling, plucking and stretching to influence the flow of qi and blood through the meridians which are the energy pathways through the body. Similar to acupuncture, specific points are stimulated to achieve natural self healing.

Fire Cupping

Fire cupping is a traditional modality that uses a natural flame and a glass cup to acquire suction on the body. This negative pressure suction is helpful to ease muscle tension, increase blood flow, and support tissue recovery. Fire cupping is also used as a diagnostic tool. The markings the cups leave behind can tell a lot about what's going on the body at a systemic level, this information can help in your acupuncture treatment.

Blue/Red Infrared Light Therapy

Alongside traditional acupuncture, light therapy can help with musculoskeletal pain, wound healing, acne, skin conditions, inflammation and stress.

Herbal prescriptions can work alone, or for best results they work alongside your acupuncture treatments. Patients are welcome to come for a FREE 15 minute consultation with Dr. Emma Rose to see if Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture are a right fit for you.

During this 15 minutes you will be asked a number of questions regarding your health and life style so the practitioner can get a better understanding of your individual constitution. You will get a tongue and pulse diagnoses - please do not brush or scrap your tongue, leave the information there!

Note, there is no treatment during this time. This is a good opportunity to get you booked in for treatment and go over treatment plans and schedule.

Is Acupuncture Your Missing Puzzle Piece?

Every body is unique, and in Chinese Medicine, there is no “one treatment fits all.”

Each patient I see is a different puzzle, and my job is to understand how all the pieces fit together. Think of your health as a puzzle.

The better you care for your body, the more complete and balanced the picture becomes. But sometimes, there’s that one piece that doesn’t seem to fit—the symptom that keeps bothering you or the issue you just can’t seem to figure out.
